I wonder if the post-nationalist practice of divestment in domestic and local economies via the withdrawal of infrastructure, personnel, or tax revenue—practices which augment the aggrandizement of wealth and power—that characterize U.S. multinational corporations has an analog in Europe, Japan, or China? Or is this particular expression, which some ddismiss as merely an excess of modern capitalism, mitigated by the the welfare state or the various regulatory regimes of the state in question?
